Osako Town is located almost in the center of Iwate Prefecture. With a population of about 4,000 (as of June 2025), it is a town rich in tourist resources, including the "Hayachine Kagura" which is registered as an intangible cultural heritage, "Mt. Hayachine" which is registered as one of Japan's 100 Famous Mountains and is a treasure trove of alpine plants, and wine which has won numerous awards at wine competitions.

With a history spanning 400 years since its founding, the town has repeatedly developed through gold mining, southern tobacco production, and silk reeling, and at its peak, it was a bustling town with a population of 15,000. Even today, traces of buildings from the Showa and Taisho eras can be seen throughout the town.
